Production at Buchmann mill down after fire | Jiangxi Snowflake Design Inc.

In the morning hours of Monday 5 June 2023 a fire broke out at the rewinder at the Buchmann Karton board mill in Annweiler, Germany.

Staff, the plant fire brigade and the fire brigade of the local community were able to get the fire under control quickly. There were no injuries, the company announced. The board machine itself as well as the sheeting department have not been affected by the fire.

Experts are currently investigating the cause of the fire and the necessary repair measures. It is not yet possible to give any information on how long production will be down, Buchmann says. Supply to customers is secured by means of a reel stock as well as the group's board mill in Mayen.

Buchmann Karton has been part of the Weig group since the start of May 2023. The board machine in Annweiler has a capacity to produce up to 260,000 tpy of white-lined chipboard, including GD board, GT board and liner grades. The joint capacity of Buchmann and Weig amounts to 550.000 tpy of carton board.
